The great advantage of collecting a Social Security benefit in the United States is knowing in advance the day of the payment. It is easy to know when we will receive the money each new month. At least, it is easy to know on what day the Social Security Administration will send the check to our pocket. However, receiving the money on the exact same day depends on other factors.
Regardless of whether we receive the money on the same day it is sent or not, we can already know the payment schedule. And knowing the August payment schedule means we can organize our household finances more efficiently. Therefore, we can conclude that we have a better standard of living when we know on which day the Social Security Administration will pay our pensioner.
In general, the August calendar has no irregularities in payments. Although it is true that we should watch out for one group of retirees in question, as the payment could be late for them. Do you know when you will receive your benefit in the month of August?
Social Security payment schedule for August 2023
Payments from the Social Security Administration will be divided into 5 different days. One of these days is for the Supplemental Security Income payment. The other 4 days are for pensioner payments.
Of these 4 days we can divide two major groups. The first of these groups is pre-1997 retirees. The other group is that of retirees with a post-1997 benefit. This second group is divided, in turn, into three different groups. That is why we have 4 days of the pensioner’s payment.
In August, the Social Security Administration will pay benefits on these exact days:
- August 1st. Payment of Supplemental Security Income
- August 3rd. Pension payment for pre-1997 pensioners.
- August 9th. Post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month are paid on this day.
- August 16th. Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month and who have been receiving benefits since after 1997 receive Social Security on this day.
- August 23rd. Last payment of the month. This payment is only for retirees born between the 21st and 31st of any month with a check after 1997.
In this sense, by activating Direct Deposit we will receive the money on the same day of the payment. If this payment method is not activated, it is possible that the check for retirees prior to 1997 will arrive a little later, since that payment day is Thursday and the weekend is very close.
