Every Social Security beneficiary in the United States has a day on which he or she gets his or her monthly benefit. So whether you get your check earlier or later depends on a number of easily controllable factors. While it is true that we cannot change the day we receive the check, we can control when that day is. In this way we will have a higher standard of living, since we will be in control of our household economy.
Even so, we must keep in mind that several external factors can affect the payment of our Social Security check. It is not possible to control 100% when we will get our payment, although there are ways to make it easier to receive our retirement check. Each new month the Administration sends up to 4 different payments and we, if we are retired, will get one of those payments.
Both the day of birth and the year of retirement are key to being able to get these payments. And retirees born between the 21st and 31st of the month will be the last in January to get the payment. However, not all retirees in this group will collect on the last of the days. Certain Social Security beneficiaries, even if they have reached their birthday between these days, may already have checks in their pockets.
When do retirees born between the 21st and 31st collect Social Security?
United States Social Security retirement beneficiaries are divided into two large groups. The first of these groups is retirees with a pre-1997 benefit. This group of retirees gets check on the same day of the month regardless of their date of birth. Therefore, beneficiaries with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month who have a check from before that year should already have a check. This group collected this past January 3rd.

However, if the benefit is after 1997, the day of the birthday is important. And in the case of a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month, the check will arrive on the last payment day of January 2024. The exact day will be on the 24th of January. So this group of beneficiaries will have to wait a bit before they can get a check for up to $4,873 in retirement.
The rest of the Social Security beneficiaries will collect their check earlier. Any and all beneficiaries collect by the 24th day if they are not in the above group. Thus, post-1997 beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th are paid on January 10th. On the other hand, the January payment schedule is completed by the group of post-1997 beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month. This group will be paid on January 17th.
How to get a larger retirement check?
In order to reach the largest possible check from Social Security in 2024, it is necessary to plan ahead for our retirement. The three fundamental elements that make up retirement are retirement age, years worked and salary during those years.
In this sense, it is necessary to work for 35 years with a good salary and apply for retirement at the age of 70. This is the only way to reach the figure of $4,873, but it does not mean that we will reach it in all cases.
While it is true that reaching that figure is very difficult, it is also true that it is entirely possible. Even so, we can also try to reach the maximum within our means. Even if we don’t reach the maximum, we could still get a good monthly check from Social Security.
