As is always the case with Social Security Administration disability payments, people in the United States will get a new check in just a few days. Each of these disability payments always arrive in different weeks to retirees. The exact day of receipt always depends on two main factors, which are the year of retirement and the birthday.
With these two elements in mind we can know on which day a disability beneficiary will receive his or her next benefit. However, there is nothing to worry about when it comes time to receive a monthly check from Social Security. Regardless of our retirement year and birthday, the payment will always arrive in our pocket.
The only thing to keep in mind, in order to have a good financial organization in our household, is the day of the payment. But it is always good to know on which day we will have the new disability payment amount available.
If our check is the next one, we will receive it in just a few days, since Wednesday is the usual day for this type of payment. Are you in the next group of retirees?
Next Disability Benefit Check
The next day the Social Security Administration will send out the new disability check is May 17. On this day, not all beneficiaries will be able to have this money in their pockets. To be able to count on the exact day of May 17th with this check from Social Security, three requirements must be met:
- Have a retirement after 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a payment method.
The last step is completely optional, but it is essential to obtain the check on the same day. If you do not have Direct Deposit activated, there is nothing to worry about, as you will receive the money anyway, just a few days later.
The rest of the retirees have already received the money or will receive it in the next week. The last Social Security disability payment for the month of May will be on the 24th. After that day we will have to wait until June to receive a new check.
How do I claim a late Social Security payment?
As we have already mentioned, on this day of the month most retirees should have their disability check in their pocket. If that is not your case, you probably need to claim the money.
In order to make a claim we must first be familiar with the payment schedule. Once we know the day the Social Security Administration sends us our disability check, we can request the back payment. But it is important that you first check to make sure that your payment should have arrived.
There are two ways to claim our payment and the first is through the bank. The bank may withhold payment for a variety of reasons. So before you take another step talk to your bank first to check that everything is in order.
The other way to claim your overdue disability check is to talk directly to Social Security. Either by phone, online, or by going to a local office, the Administration will help us fix any problems we have in receiving our monthly check.
