If you are a beneficiary of the United States Social Security Disability Administration you will want to know on what day you will receive your benefit check. Knowing when we receive our check is extremely important for all users. Millions of these disability beneficiaries have no other source of income.
For that reason, understanding the system in which the Social Security Administration sends checks to retirees is vital. Whether you have already started collecting retirement or have yet to receive one of these checks, this information is of interest to you. There is no better financial organization than knowing the day we have the money coming in.
In order to receive one of these checks, you are not required to have a disability benefit. Any other Social Security retiree could collect benefits for the month of May if they meet the requirements. The first of the requirements is, of course, to have the benefit previously accepted. From there several requirements must be met in order to determine on what day we will have the benefit.
May 2023 payments for disability pensioners
May payments for disability pensioners arrive on up to 4 different days. Each of these days a different group of pensioners receives the money. In fact, it is possible that disability or other beneficiaries may not get a check on the same day. The Social Security Administration announces the days on which it sends the money. Whether or not you receive it at that time depends on the method of collection that is taken.
There are two major groups of Social Security beneficiaries. One of these groups is further divided into three different groups. It is very easy to determine which group we belong to and after that to know on which day in May 2023 we will get the disability benefit.
Group 1: Pre-1997 disability pensioners
The first of the groups encompasses all retirees who meet one main requirement. If our benefit is prior to 1997, this check is for us. And there is no other differentiation within this group. Usually, these disability or age-based retirees receive checks on the 3rd day of each month.
In May there have been no exceptions to this, but sometimes it can change a little bit. When the 3rd day of the month is a holiday or weekend, the Social Security Administration sends the check on the immediately preceding business day.
Group 2: Post-1997 Retirees
This group has another division within it. It is important to note the separation between pre-1997 and post-1997 retirees. If we belong to group 2 we will have to pay attention to our day of birth. With the day of the birthday we will be able to determine if we receive our pension in the second, third or fourth week of the month.
- Pensioners born between the 1st and 10th of the month. This group of beneficiaries is paid on the second Wednesday of each month. In May that day is the 10th.
- Disability beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month. The third Wednesday of the month is the collection day for these retirees. In May it will be the 17th.
- Any beneficiary born between the 21st and 31st of the month. The last group to collect is on the 4th Wednesday of the month. The 24th is the designated day in May for this group.
By activating Direct Deposit we will also be able to know exactly on which day we will cash the check. This is because by using this collection method any Social Security disability remittance arrives immediately.
