If you live in the United States and have an accepted Social Security Administration benefit, you’re probably anxious to know the day you’ll receive your check. Fortunately, Social Security always announces well in advance the days on which it will send payments to retirees.
Knowing this schedule will leave you in no doubt as to exactly what day your Social Security check will be available. Looking at these dates is a good way to organize our household finances.
Regardless of all this, there is nothing to worry about if we don’t receive a check in the next mailing from Social Security. All other retirees will cash a check in the following weeks, so we can always know the day we will be paid.
When will Social Security pay the new retirement check?
The day chosen for payment of the new Social Security retirement check is February 8. Following the established calendar, this is the second Wednesday of the month. During the month of February we can observe that there are four different payments and all 4 are always on Wednesdays. This is not very usual and these are the corresponding payments:
- February 1st. 1st Wednesday of the month. This payment is for all Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries.
- February 8th. 2nd Wednesday of the month. Retirees born between the 1st and 10th receive Social Security on this day.
- February 15th. 3rd Wednesday of the month. On this payment, retirees born between the 11th and 20th receive their checks.
- February 22nd. 4th Wednesday of the month. Social Security payment day for retirees born between the 21st and 31st of the month.
It is important to remember that for retirement payments it is not mandatory to be born in the month of payment. The Administration divides retirees into groups based on the above dates, but neither the month nor the year is important.
Therefore, a retiree who was born in January can be paid in either April or August. In order to determine the day on which we will receive a check, all we have to do is look at the exact day of birth and the Wednesday of the month that our group will receive Social Security.
