The Social Security Administration sends a Supplemental Security Income check each month to beneficiaries in the United States. So if you are part of this benefit program, you can know in advance when you will receive your check. This means we can more efficiently control the money we get from Social Security.
However, there are months when we have to watch out for Supplemental Security Income payments. Sometimes you may find that you will not receive a new check for this type of benefit for a month. Even so, keep in mind that the Social Security Administration will still send us a check, although it may be on a different date.
The idea of being able to know when you will receive your Supplemental Security Income helps your household finances. Controlling our money will mean a better quality of life. This makes social welfare go up tremendously and thousands of Americans can have a good life and pay their bills on time.
Why doesn’t Social Security send out SSI in some months?
Before we look at the full 2023 calendar of months when the Social Security Administration does not send out Supplemental Security Income, we need to know why. The truth is that the explanation is quite simple and logical. Therefore, we should have no problem understanding it.
Government workers do not work on weekends or holidays. Therefore, if the day of payment of a benefit is a weekend or a holiday, they do not send a check. It may happen that the 1st of the month, the day the Supplemental Security Income is sent, falls under these conditions.
When this happens, there is no SSI check for that month. In that case it is sent on the immediately preceding business day. And that’s the main reason why in some months we don’t get the Supplemental Security Income benefit. But that doesn’t mean we don’t get this check, because we actually get it a few days earlier.
Months in 2023 when Supplemental Security Income won’t reach Americans
Throughout the year 2023 there are several months that we have had this irregularity in the calendar. In the month of January this situation occurred, as well as in the month of April. The payments, in this way, were sent on the immediately preceding business days. The same will occur in the following months that are under this condition.
To be exact, the months in which we will not have a direct Supplemental Security Income check will be:
- July
- October
Unless some other strange situation may occur, only those two months will have this irregular situation. In the first case, the Social Security Supplemental Security Income payment will arrive on June 30th, the Friday before the 1st of July.
On the other hand, the October SSI check will appear in the users’ account on the 29th of September, since the 1st is Sunday. Since September 30 is a Saturday, the payment will be advanced by one day.
