Although Social Security payments follow a very specific schedule we sometimes encounter irregularities. This makes it so that some of the beneficiaries in the United States can even get two payments in the same week.
Even so, not all Americans can access this irregularity. Similarly, if we get two checks in the same week it is because one of them is not the retirement benefit. Both payments are from Social Security, yes, but that does not mean that both payments are for disability or some other type of benefit.
On the one hand, we have the Supplemental Security Income payment. On the other hand, we have the retirement payments. In total, next week the Administration will send out three checks and two of them are for retirees. Of course, each Social Security retiree can get one of these payments. It is not possible to collect retirement checks twice in the same week.
Who gets next week’s Social Security checks?
As mentioned above, there is a chance to get two of the three checks that the Social Security Administration will be sending out soon. Starting February 26th, the Administration will send three checks until the end of the week.
This is due to certain irregularities, but first let’s look at the days these checks will be sent:
- February 28th. Payment for retirees with a check from May 1997.
- March 1st. Social Security payment for retirees prior to 1997.
- March 1st. Supplemental Security Income payment for all beneficiaries.
The reason we have three different checks in the same week is very simple. The last payment in February is on the 28th because the month started on a Thursday. When this happens, the Social Security Administration sends the payment on the 28th day of that month to the last group.
On the other hand, the Supplemental Security Income payment will be sent on the usual day, the 1st of the month. However, the check for pre-1997 retirees will arrive on the same day, when in fact it should be on the 3rd day. This causes the Social Security payment to arrive a little earlier.
Remember that you will only be able to get two of these three checks. Likewise, it is also possible to get only one of these Social Security checks. It all depends on the checks we have accepted and whether or not we meet the requirements.
