The new Social Security retirement benefit payments will be coming in just a few days to thousands of United States citizens. This new payment will be available to Group 2 retirees. Only if we are part of this group will we be able to get this check.
However, it is good to remember that the type of retirement does not matter in order to be part of group 2 retirees. Therefore, it doesn’t matter what type of Social Security retirement we have, so it can be 65 years old or disability, among many others.
What does matter in order to determine if we will get this new check or not is the year of retirement and the day of birth. With that information we will be able to directly determine if we will get the new Social Security payment that will appear in a few days in the checking accounts of eligible citizens.
Who can collect the new Social Security?
The next Social Security retirement payments will be for a specific group of Americans. Having this new check means belonging to group 2 of beneficiaries of the Administration. Just by belonging to this group, the Administration will send us this check.
The requirements to be part of the group 2 of retirees are:
- To have a retirement benefit since after May 1997.
- To have birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
Regarding the year of retirement, it is important to know that it does not matter the age or anything like that. Only the exact year of retirement matters. On the other hand, the year of birth, as well as the month, does not matter. Only the exact day matters, so we don’t need to be born in June to get June Social Security.
Can I change the day of my Social Security collection?
As we have already discussed, the information that determines what time of the month we collect Social Security is related to the beneficiary’s personal information. The two key pieces of information for this are the year of retirement and the exact day of birth. So since we can’t change that information, we can’t change the day of collection either.
However, we can delay the payment a bit or get it on the same day it is sent depending on the collection method we have activated. If we have Direct Deposit, the money will appear immediately. If we do not have this collection method activated, the money will arrive a few days later. Either way, the Social Security check will arrive each month in our bank account.
