Thousands of United States Social Security beneficiaries are only a couple of weeks away from receiving their new retirement checks. However, in order to get this check, several requirements must be met. Those Americans who do not meet all of the mandatory requirements must wait until another day to collect the payment.
However, even though these requirements are for 65 year old retirees, in reality the payments are for all Americans. Not only the beneficiaries who receive these checks can get this payment, but also other beneficiaries such as Disability or Widow’s and Widower’s benefits will get a collection if they meet the requirements.
Within the Social Security checks the type of benefit is not part of the requirements. Even so, it is true that we must have the check accepted in advance. We will not be able to know the day of collection if the check has not been accepted in full by the Administration.
Also, there are more checks during the month. For that reason we should not worry about anything. If our benefit is accepted, the Social Security payment will appear in our checking account regardless of which group of retirees we belong to.
Which 65-year-old retirees get the next Social Security check?
When we talk about the $1,600 check, we are referring to the average check in 2024. Even so, it is true that the average checks change a bit from month to month. The calculation of the average Social Security payment depends on the beneficiaries who collect, the size of the checks and other factors.
But the truth is that the amount, as well as the type of benefit, does not change on the day of collection. The requirements for the next of the payments, which will be on December 13th, are:
- To have been born between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Have been receiving Social Security benefits since after May 1997.
In this sense, only these two are the mandatory requirements. There is a third requirement that we must take into account in order to get the check as soon as possible. If we do not activate Direct Deposit, we will not be able to get the money immediately. Therefore, it is a good idea to activate it if we want to receive the collection as soon as possible.
If we do not activate Direct Deposit we will not have the money available until a few days later. It is true that we will still receive the collection, but we will not have access to the payment until the week following the remittance in most cases. Although this will not depend on Social Security, but on our bank.
