When a group of retirees in the United States gets a new Social Security benefit, it’s always good news. And today, February 21st, thousands of Americans will be able to enjoy a new retirement check. Of course, there are certain requirements to be met in order to collect the payment.
If we want to get one of the checks of up to $4,873 on February 21st, we must check if we are eligible. In order to be eligible, it is mandatory to meet two requirements. In case we do not meet these two requirements, we will have to collect the payment on a different day.
We should not worry if we do not get the February 21st Social Security payment. The Administration sends up to four different checks each month. If we do not receive one, we may get one of the other payments.
The only thing we have to keep in mind is the payment schedule. If we know the Social Security payment schedule we will be able to know each month on what day we will have our retirement check available.
Requirements for the February 21st Social Security Payment
In order to get this new Social Security retirement payment we must meet two conditions. If we meet them, we are eligible. If not, we will have to wait a little longer to get a check. We may even already have the payment in our checking account if we belong to one of the first two groups of retirees.
In case we want to know if we get this payment or not we must take into account two elements:
- Having been born between the 11th and 20th day of the month.
- Having a Social Security benefit since after May 1997 (including May of that year).
Only then will we belong to group 3 of retirees. Group 3 retirees always get their benefit payments on the third Wednesday of the month, unless there are exceptions. If there are exceptions, it is customary to get it on the immediately preceding business day.
Those Americans who have the maximum Social Security check for this benefit are eligible to get up to $4,873 today, February 21st, 2024. This is the maximum payment, but we will most likely get a larger check. This will depend on our work history. That said, the amount does not affect the day we will get the payment each month.
