The timing of Social Security Disability Income payments is not the same for all retirees in the United States. While it is true that for most retirees there is only one fact to check, for some retirees there is not. This specific group of Social Security retirees may have either the age or disability benefit.
It does not matter what type of benefit we have, but rather when we were born. For any Social Security user, the day of birth is very important. Through this day we can know when we will collect our monthly Social Security check.
However, not all disability retirees will be able to know when they receive a check with their birthday. Some other beneficiaries need to know another piece of information. This is not related to the year of birth, but to the day they applied for retirement.
So many retirees who collect monthly Social Security checks today will collect their benefits earlier than others. And it doesn’t matter how old the retiree is now or whether he or she applied for Early Retirement Age at the time he or she began collecting Social Security.
Who gets Social Security on April 3rd?
The retirees who will collect Social Security next April 3rd, before any other beneficiaries, are those who retired before 1997. So if you applied for a retirement benefit, either because of age or disability, you will get your retirement before all other benefit users.
This is repeated every month, although not on the exact same day. Usually it is on the 3rd of the month, but Social Security may also send this check on the 2nd or 1st, depending on the calendar.
If the 3rd day of a month is a weekend or holiday, Social Security sends the check earlier so that it reaches retirees on time. Therefore, to find out the exact day Social Security sends out the check we just need to check the calendar. If the 3rd day is a holiday or weekend we already know that we will get this disability benefit payment a little earlier.
Other SSA April disability payments
In addition to the April 3rd payment, the Social Security Administration sends other disability payments to beneficiaries. These checks are directly payment for the benefit and will be mailed on the following days:
- April 12th. Retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month receive their check on this day.
- April 19th. Any disabled user born between the 11th and 20th with a benefit receives a check on this day.
- April 26th. Beneficiaries with a check born between the 21st and 31st can cash the benefit.
After that, the user will have to wait until March to receive another check. And remember that the Social Security Administration sends out disability checks on these days, but that does not mean that the retiree will receive it on the same day.
It may take up to three days for the check to appear in the disability beneficiary’s account. This money will be cashed automatically if we have Direct Deposit activated.
