Achieving the highest possible Social Walfare is one of the major goals of the United States Social Security Administration. This federal organization sends checks every month to retirees regardless of whether they have a disability, old-age, survivor or other benefit.
If you have a benefit that has already been accepted, you may be among the group of beneficiaries who will receive the new payment next week. If not, there is nothing to worry about, as the Social Security Administration will still send your check in the next few weeks. The important thing in these cases is to have the benefit accepted.
If you do not yet have a retirement pension, you must take the appropriate steps. Remember that in order to receive a federal Social Security pension you must have paid payroll taxes for ten years as a worker. This is one of the most important requirements if you want to apply for an old age pension. Are you on the list to receive the next Social Security check?
Which retirees will receive the new April Social Security check?
Only one group of retirees can enjoy their social welfare attached to the April Social Security check. The first thing to keep in mind is that in order to receive the next Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) benefit payment, you must have applied for it after 1997.
If we have had our check since before 1997, Social Security will have sent the benefit last April 3rd. After this differentiation, recipients of a federal pension check dated after 1997 may receive the money on three different days.
Thus, the check may arrive on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month. On each of these days a different group will receive their payment. The next payment will be on April 19th and pertains to retirees born between the 11th and 20th of the month.
How can I increase my old-age pension check?
Old-age retirement has one big advantage over the disability pension. This is that we can extend the monthly Social Security check much further, as it can reach $4,555 in 2023.
However, in order to reach such a high figure, three requirements must be met. The first of these requirements is to delay the retirement age.
Therefore, if we have already retired we will not be able to increase check to the maximum. The second requirement is to work for at least 35 years. The third requirement to get a good Social Security check is to have a high salary during the years in which we pay payroll taxes.
The advantage is that if we have a disability benefit we can later exchange it for Social Security for age. This will be advantageous if the age pension is higher than the disability pension. If this is not the case, it is advisable not to make the change in this federal payment.
