The Social Security payment schedule will be different in February for all beneficiaries in the United States. While it is true that the payment schedule usually follows a strict order, in February we will have several exceptions. And these exceptions will mean that some will get paid later than usual, but others may get paid even earlier.
The advantage of all this is that we can know well in advance what those changes in the calendar will be. So, just having this information in mind is enough to mark on the Social Security payment schedule exactly when ours will be. And this will help all Americans know the day when you can count on your benefit money.
Remember, there are four total Social Security retirement payments, but also an extra Supplemental Security Income benefit payment. This last one will be the only one that will not change the day of payment for February 2023, but the rest of the beneficiaries will see their benefits arrive on different days.
However, it is true that this will not be a particularly noticeable change, although if the bills arrive early it could be a problem for retirees who will get their Social Security later than usual. Do you know when you will receive your February 2024 payment?
Social Security payment schedule for February 2024
In order to see everything in a better perspective let’s take a look at the full 2024 Social Security payment schedule and explain what the changes are in that schedule. The moment we see the changes we will understand perfectly what will be the possible problems we may encounter.
These will be the retirement payment days in February 2024:
- February 1st. February Supplemental Security Income payment. This payment has no change in the payday. It is the usual day.
- February 2nd. Social Security payment for pre-1997 retirees. Beneficiaries in this group get payment one day earlier than the normal schedule. This is because the 3rd is a weekend.
- February 14th. Beneficiaries with a post-1997 check and birthdays between the 1st and 10th get payment on this day. While it is the second Wednesday of the month, the payment is later than usual because it is the third week of February.
- February 21st. This is the fourth week of February, so the payment comes a little later. The payment on this day is for retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month and, in addition, who have retirement since after 1997.
- February 28th. Last payment of the month in the last week of the month. This Social Security check arrives later than usual, although it is still the fourth Wednesday of the month. The payment is only for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
After the February 28th payment, the Social Security Administration will not send another check until March. Also, in the month of March we will also find some irregularities in the payment, which will make it necessary to check the entire calendar.
