The new Social Security Supplemental Security Income benefit payments will not arrive in June for beneficiaries in the United States. This does not mean that this benefit will not be available in June. But it is true that beneficiaries may have had this check in advance in May.
The payment of this benefit is always made on the 1st of the month, with some exceptions. In the case of this new Supplemental Security Income check, which will arrive in July, the payment has no exceptions, but the June check has had exceptions. June 1st was a weekend, so the payment was brought forward to May 31st.
Who will get the July 1st Supplemental Security Income?
Now that all recipients should have their June Supplemental Security Income check, we need to look carefully at what time of the month this new check will appear. The next of the payments will be July 1st and there are requirements that must be met.
The first of these requirements is none other than having the benefit accepted in advance. Just by having the SSI accepted, we are already on the list of eligible beneficiaries who will have access to the payment on the 1st of July. However, it is mandatory that the payment be accepted in advance.
If we add Direct Deposit as a collection method, the money is available on the same day it is sent. It’s that simple, since there are no other requirements to be eligible for this July 1st Supplemental Security Income payment.
Can I increase my Supplemental Security Income benefit?
The truth is that the amount of Supplemental Security Income you get each month depends on several factors. The first is our monthly income. If we have a very high income, we will not have access to this benefit. With low incomes it is more common to get this check in our checking account.
Likewise, the other requirement to take into account is our resources. If we have low resources, we may be able to get a larger SSI check. What we cannot do is apply for an increase specifically. The Social Security Administration gives these checks to the neediest beneficiaries. For that reason, we cannot request a specific amount.
Finally, we should also keep in mind that the Supplemental Security Income check can increase or decrease. If our monthly income increases, the Administration may lower the check we get each month. And vice versa.
