The schedule of Social Security payments in the United States for the month of December is now available. And among all those payments is the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) check. This payment is only for a specific group of beneficiaries so you have to be on the list to get it. And it doesn’t matter what amount we are talking about.
If the check is for $914, the maximum for SSI, we will get the payment. If our Supplemental Security Income benefit payment is less, we will also get the payment. The important thing is to have the payment previously accepted and to meet the requirements. That is the key if we want to get this new check in December.
Also, remember that in December we will have an extra SSI payment, which means that we can get not only $914 in one payment, but more than double this amount between the two payments.
So check the payment days well and see that you don’t have any problems getting it. Also keep in mind that not only SSI will arrive in December, as the Social Security Administration will send other payments to United States citizens. If we have SSI accepted and we also have a retirement check we will be able to get 3 different checks this month.
WHEN WILL THE DECEMBER SSI PAYMENT ARRIVE?
The December Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment is completely regular. This means that we will be able to enjoy this benefit on the 1st of the month. So if you have activated the fastest payment method, you will be able to receive a check for this payment on the 1st of the month. This is an advantage over not having the faster collection method.
Also, keep in mind that if you have the faster collection method activated, you will be able to get two different Supplemental Security Income payments in December. This second extra payment will arrive at the end of the month and actually corresponds to January 2024.
Since the extra payment is from the 2024 calendar it will come with the COLA already included. So the maximum limit for this SSI check will not be $914, but $943. Therefore, in the month of December you could get two Supplemental Security Income checks with two different amounts.
OTHER SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS IN DECEMBER
In addition to these two SSI payments that will arrive on the 1st and 29th of the month the Social Security Administration will send other payments to retirees. These other payments will be on the 13th, 20th and 27th of December. Also, on the 1st of the month, not only the December Supplemental Security Income, but also a retirement payment will be sent.
Retirees with a pre-1997 benefit will get their payment on the 1st of the month. Beneficiaries with a post-1997 check may be paid on the other days listed above depending on their birthday.
Thus, those born between the 1st and 10th of any month will be paid on the 13th day of the month. The 20th day will be for retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month. The last payment will arrive on the 27th for beneficiaries with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month. These payments are separate from SSI but compatible.
