If we have started collecting our SSI check as part of our regular United States Social Security income, we may have gotten a fixed amount per month. That amount can be as high as $914 per month. Getting the maximum Supplemental Security Income check is possible, but it may not be entirely good news.
SSI checks depend on the type of income we usually have. This means that the higher our monthly income amount the lower the Supplemental Security Income payment. However, there are some types of income that do not affect this benefit. Therefore, if we take this into account, we may be able to get a larger Supplemental Security Income check.
At the time we start getting this benefit, we must continue to have the same general status in order to continue getting SSI. The amount of this check can change from month to month, although it all depends on the individual situation. If we have a Social Security payment, for example, the Supplemental Security Income check will remain stable.
However, if we work regularly and have a different paycheck each month, the SSI check may change. If not every month, then from time to time. Your Supplemental Security Income payment depends on your regular income. How much SSI do you get each month?
HOW DO YOU INCREASE YOUR SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME?
In order to increase the Supplemental Security Income benefit you get each month, you have to have a lower income. That’s why getting a bigger SSI check isn’t always good news. At the end of the day, each Supplemental Security Income check is actually direct financial help for the neediest citizens.
That is why there are two fundamental requirements to get this benefit, which are being 65 or older or having a disability and also having low monthly income. Therefore, if we cease to have low income we could stop having the SSI payment.
Thus, losing a Supplemental Security Income check is just as possible as getting an increase in it. While Social Security checks do not change in amount, Supplemental Security Income payments do, so we need to keep this in mind when planning our benefit.
WHEN DOES THE NEXT SSI PAYMENT ARRIVE?
The next of the SSI checks that will arrive to United States citizens will be on November 1st. This payment will be the November Supplemental Security Income check, as there is no irregularity in this regard.
In the current month of October we did not have a Supplemental Security Income payment because the 1st of the month was a weekend. For that reason, the Social Security Administration sent out the check on the immediately preceding business day, September 29th.
This is the general rule for SSI payments when the payment day is a weekend or holiday. While it is true that this is not a very common situation, it is possible. But since the Administration advances the payment there is nothing to worry about.
In these months of irregularity in the day of payment we can get this check much earlier if we activate Direct Deposit. This method of payment is immediate, which means that the money is available the same day it is sent. That is why in September many Americans got two of this benefit payment, since they were able to cash them thanks to Direct Deposit on both the 1st and the 29th, although the latter was actually part of the October payment schedule.
