In the third month of the year and just before the start of spring, millions of Americans who are retirees, disability beneficiaries or widow(er)s will receive a new payment with a COLA increase included.
In 2024, thanks to the Cost of Living, Americans will receive up to $4,873 in their Social Security payment. However, to receive the maximum payment, you must have retired by age 70. Otherwise, your payment will be lower, but higher than in 2023 thanks to the COLA.
As usual, Social Security makes payments on the last three Wednesdays of each month for those who retired after 1997. If you retired earlier, you will have received your payment by March 1.
If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th of any month, Social Security will send payments on March 20. If your birthday is earlier, your payday will have been the March 13. Otherwise, if your birthday is between March 21 and 31, the next payment will be March 27.
In any case, your payment may be delayed up to 3 days later. If you have any problems, do not hesitate to contact your nearest office.
