SSDI is a type of United States Social Security benefit that is available only to Americans with a disability. In today’s difficult times, this type of monthly check has become a mainstay of many American households.
While the amount of SSDI depends on a number of factors, what is certain is that in most cases it is a good check for the recipient. And as it arrives each new month, knowing on what day we can get it is also really important.
Also, this check shares another feature with Social Security‘s workers’ retirement payments. Beneficiaries who have one of these two benefits can get the payment on the same day. The Administration sends checks for both age and disability retirees.
Even so, it is true that SSDI benefits do not reach as high an amount as the maximum age retirement benefit. But the two can be more or less equal if we look only at the maximum. In any case, it is true that not all Americans are eligible for the maximum benefit of either Social Security benefit.
MAXIMUM SSDI BENEFIT AND OCTOBER MAILING DATES
In the month of October 2023 there are a total of 4 mailing dates for SSDI payments. This benefit will arrive very soon for many beneficiaries, although some of them can already enjoy it. On the 3rd of last month, the Social Security Administration sent out the first of the disability checks.
That check was for the first group, made up of retirees with a pre-1997 benefit. Any beneficiary with those characteristics was able to get the check on that day. The remaining retirees, those after 1997, will get their payment in the next few weeks.
The schedule of payments for this SSDI benefit on the remaining days of October is as follows:
- October 11th. Payment for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- October 18th. Any SSDI beneficiary with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month and retirement after 1997 gets this check.
- October 25th. This payday is for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st.
SSDI retirees can get a maximum check of $3,627 per month. This check depends on several factors such as the type of disability and the particular situation of each American.
It is also important to note that at this time the Social Security Administration will send checks to other retirees who have a benefit. It doesn’t matter if it is for disability or age, since everyone can collect on the same day if they meet the requirements.
