The August Social Security payment schedule is coming to a close, which means that American beneficiaries already have checks in most cases. But not all United States retirement payments are available as of today. There are still several checks that have not yet arrived.
Specifically there are two different payments for the month of August that will arrive in the next few days. If you are eligible, you could even get these two checks from Social Security. Likewise, it is also possible to get only one of them, so it all depends on whether you are eligible for the payments or not.
Americans who get the last Social Security check in August
Only a specific group of Americans are eligible for Social Security payments in August. If you are in the retiree group, the payment will appear in your checking account very soon. If not, you will have to wait a bit until September, as this will be the last of the checks for the entire month of August.
Thus, retirees who get this benefit are those who meet the following requirements:
- Have a Social Security benefit since after May 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
If we are within these characteristics we are in group 4 of retirees. And this group always gets their Social Security check on the fourth Wednesday of the month. In September we will have the same situation, so we can mark on the calendar the day of the collection thanks to this information. In August this payment will be sent on the 28th of the month.
Are there more Social Security payments before September?
The truth is that this payment on August 28th is not the last one that Social Security will send out for the entire month. After this payday it is possible to get another check, but this time it is not for retirement, but for another type of payment. This other benefit is not for all Americans, so we have to look at the requirements.
On the one hand, to get this payment we have to be 65 years old or older. Similarly, in the case of having a disability we can also get the payment. To that we must add having low monthly income, as well as low resources. In this case, we would have access to the payment on August 30th, 2024.
This benefit is called Supplemental Security Income. The maximum payment of this check is $943 and only Americans who meet the above requirements have access to the check. Still, remember that this payment is actually a September calendar check. The reason it arrives earlier is very simple: September 1st is a weekend, so the payment is advanced to August 30th.
