United States citizens who are still waiting for their April Social Security check could be in for some good news in just a few hours. However, not all beneficiaries will receive the benefit on this day, as there is still one more payment coming to Americans over the next week.
This week’s payment is only for one group of beneficiaries. Therefore, Americans who have an accepted Social Security and meet the established requirements will be able to get the payment in just a few days. These requirements are mandatory, as this is the Administration’s way of organizing the payment schedule.
So just by meeting the requirements you will have the possibility to get a new check. The amount of this check will depend on many factors. Each citizen receives a different amount of money, so your benefit will not be the same as that of other retirees.
If you have not yet started collecting Social Security, you can use the government’s official calculator to get an approximation of what your benefit will be. If you have already started receiving your monthly check, you will receive your payment very soon if you meet the requirements.
Which group receives the next Social Security check?
Within the groups of retirees who receive their monthly Social Security check, there are two large groups. Within these two groups are pre-1997 retirees and post-1997 beneficiaries.
The first of these groups always receives their benefit on the 3rd day of the month, with very few exceptions. When the 3rd day of the month is a holiday or weekend, the payment is sent on the immediately preceding business day. The same is true for Supplemental Security Income payments.
As for the other group, post-1997 retirees, there are three groups within it. Thus, each new subgroup receives the benefit on one day or another depending on their birthday.
The next of the groups of retirees to receive their Social Security is those born between the 21st and 31st of the month. The month of birth does not matter, only the specific day. Thus, a retiree born in April can collect a check for May, September or October.
But this is only the second of the payments for retirees after 1997. There are two other payments made to this group within each month. The next payment day for retirees born between the 11th and 20th is tomorrow, April 19th. If you were not born between these days, do not worry, because you will still receive your benefit this month.
My birthday is not between 11-20, when will I receive my pension?
As previously mentioned, if you received your benefit after 1997, you will receive your Social Security check depending on your birthday. The next payment is on the 19th, however, all other retirees will receive their payments on different days.
Below is the complete schedule for the month of April to make sure your Social Security check is not delayed:
- Pensioners prior to 1997: Pension collection day in April is the 3rd of the month.
- Pensioners after 1997: The day of payment depends on the date of birth.
- Pensioners born between the 1st and 10th of the month: Social Security day is the 12th of April.
- Pensioners with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month: the check is sent on the 19th of April.
- Pensioners with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month: They receive Social Security on April 26th.
In the event that you know the day on which you receive the benefit but you have not received it, you can claim the late payment.
How can I claim a late Social Security payment?
When it comes to cashing a Social Security check, we should always be sure of the day the Social Security Administration sends it. We should do this before claiming any type of check, as we may have made a mistake in checking the calendar.
When we are absolutely certain of the day of the cashing and we see that there is a delay, we should then first contact the bank. The bank should inform us of everything related to our Social Security payment. If there is a delay, it could be due to withholding by the bank.
If the bank cannot help us in this regard, then it is time to contact the Social Security Administration. We can do this by calling 1 (800) 772-1213 or by going to a local office to speak directly to a worker.
