Social Security announces major advantages of cashing checks with Direct Deposit

If you are one of the United States citizens waiting to receive a Supplemental Security Income benefit, you are in luck. Very soon you will be able to receive this Social Security payment in your pocket. This week the Social Security Administration will be sending out these payments. And it is the same payment for all forms, although the amounts are not exactly the same for all beneficiaries.

In this regard, couples who have access to this benefit can receive a maximum of $1,261 together. As for an individual beneficiary, the payment amounts to $841. This amount in the checks is for the year 2022, since as of next year the amount will be higher. If we take into account the COLA, the Social Security Administration will pay maximum checks of $914 for an individual and $1,371 for a couple. It is a minimal difference, but enough to not lose much purchasing power.

If you have been accepted for Supplemental Security Income payment, all you have to do is wait to receive it. In order to have this money automatically, you simply have to activate Direct Deposit. Otherwise, you may have to wait up to 3 days to receive the money. Unlike Social Security pension payments, SSI is not paid on a staggered basis. On the same day, the SSA pays all SSI checks so that recipients can receive SSI as soon as possible.

When does the Social Security Administration send out SSI?

On December 1, the Social Security Administration will send out the first of the December Supplemental Security Income payments. This is the first payment because, exceptionally, there are two different payments this month. In addition to the payment on the first day of December, which pertains to this month’s SSI, there is also another payment.

This different payment actually pertains to the month of January. Thus, the maximum SSI payment received on the 30th day of December is $914 for single users. Likewise, for couples it will be a maximum of $1,371. It is true that most SSI beneficiaries will receive this payment from the Social Security Administration in January, since not all citizens have Direct Deposit activated.

Therefore, the schedule of Social Security SSI payments in December is as follows:

  • December 1. December SSI payment. Maximum of $1,261 per couple.
  • December 30. January 2023 SSI payment. Maximum of $1,371 per couple.

Check your bank account carefully in the days after the money is sent to make sure there are no problems with receiving the money. If you have any problems in this regard, contact the nearest Social Security Administration office.
