When the Social Security Administration announces the payment schedule for United States retirees, we can better organize our family finances. Since retirees can know well in advance on what day they will receive their next check, they can make a financial plan to pay their bills, debts and other expenses.
The Social Security Administration pays both age and disability pensions on different days of the month. Knowing the day we will receive our check is key to creating that ideal financial plan. Best of all, the instructions for understanding the calendar are really clear, so any citizen will understand the calendar perfectly without any problems.
On the one hand, we have the pre-1997 retirees. All these retirees receive their Social Security check on the same day. To be more precise, the 3rd day of the month is usually the day of the collection of this monthly retirement benefit.
On the other hand, beneficiaries who have their benefit after 1997 will receive their retirement check on one of the Social Security payment Wednesdays. These Wednesdays are the second, third and fourth of the month. Each group of retirees will get their check on a different day. If we have not received the payment on the corresponding day there are several actions we can take.
Social Security Schedule for April 2023
In order to determine whether or not our retirement check is late or not it is important to be fully aware of the payment schedule. In the month of April, the Social Security Administration has sent or will send retirement money to groups on the following days:
- April 3rd. On this day, pre-1997 retirees received their retirement benefit. It does not matter whether the check is for disability or age retirement.
- April 12th. This payment day is for beneficiaries after 1997. In addition to that, the retirees’ birthday must be between the 1st and 10th of the month to cash the check on this day.
- April 19th. Beneficiaries after 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month receive the benefit on this day.
- April 26th. Last payment of the month. Retirees who have their check after 1997 and were born between the 21st and 31st will receive the benefit on this day.
Knowing the April calendar well, we can already determine if the check is late or not.
Where is my April 19, 2023 retirement check?
The first thing you have to do is to check if the check for April 19th really belongs to you. In order to find out, we must meet two requirements, according to the schedule we checked earlier:
- Have your retirement since after 1997.
- You were born between the 11th and 20th of the month.
If you meet these two requirements, the Social Security payment for this day should arrive in your bank account very soon. Remember that if you have activated the bank account transfer collection method, it may take up to 3 days for the money to appear. For this reason, it is better to activate the other collection option, as it is faster.
In case you have activated the bank account deposit, you already know where your check is: on its way. You will just have to wait a little while to receive it. If you have activated Direct Deposit, the other cashing method, then you should already have the money in your pocket. If not, then you’ll have to file a claim with the Social Security Administration.
