Each Social Security payment has a different date on the United States Government calendar. The U.S. Government sends out retirement checks on up to 4 different days each month. This means that the retiree must meet certain conditions in order to get a check in one of these weeks.
In order to determine if the next of the payments is ours we must check the payment schedule. Fortunately, it is very easy to check which day belongs to us when it comes to collecting this Social Security benefit. And it doesn’t matter whether we collect disability or old-age retirement benefits. Any reason is enough to be able to determine the day we will receive a check.
The important fact to know if we will get the next check is not related to the type of retirement. In this sense, there are two elements that are key to know the day on which we will receive the Social Security benefit. On the one hand, we need to know our birthday. On the other hand, we need to know the year we apply for retirement.
Will I be able to receive my next Social Security check?
The next Social Security payment will only go to one group of retirees. This group will be the ones who will receive next week’s check. To determine if we are in the group of beneficiaries we only have to meet two requirements.
The first requirement is to have applied for retirement after 1997. In addition to this, it is also essential that our birthday be between the 1st and 10th of the month. We cannot meet only one of the requirements, since it is mandatory that we meet both of them.
With this information we can determine if the next of the May payments is for us. If not, there is no need to worry, since we will end up receiving the payment in one of the following weeks anyway.
When is the next retirement payment?
The check payment for this group of retirees will be in the next week. To be exact, the collection day will be on May 10th. This day is only for the beneficiaries who meet the above mentioned requirements. The rest of the retirees will have to wait to receive the check.
Even so, if our retirement is prior to 1997 we will receive the check a little earlier. Therefore, we should already have the benefit at this time of the month. The payment for these beneficiaries was sent on May 3rd. This is usually repeated, except when that day is a holiday or weekend. When the 3rd of the month is under these conditions, Social Security sends the money on the immediately preceding business day.
