Regardless of which State in the United States we live in, tax season has already begun. Therefore, the IRS is already accepting tax returns from all American taxpayers. So it is normal that millions of them have already sent their returns to the IRS to speed up their tax refund.

Although sending the tax return to the IRS early is a good practice, for some citizens it can bring small problems. These are not major problems and will have an easy solution, but they will require patience from taxpayers.

The IRS recently announced that stimulus checks dedicated to economic relief for many homes would not be taxable. So this changes a lot of filing for thousands of Americans. Unfortunately, some of these families who received the relief check in 2022 have already sent in their tax return. In that case, the question is: What do I have to do now?

The IRS has not announced anything in this regard

Regarding this situation, the IRS has not yet said anything, so the official response is still on its way. However, the recommended thing to do in these cases is to wait to see what will happen with our tax money.

If we have already made the tax return and sent it to the IRS, the only thing left to do is to wait. There is not much more we can do, so we will have to be patient and trust that soon the Internal Revenue Service will give a solution to this problem.

On the other hand, if we have not yet sent our tax return, we already know that we should not include these stimulus checks within the earnings. Well, actually we should include this money, but it is important to remember to add it as a non-taxable gain.

In case we urgently need to know what will happen to our tax return after the change we can call the IRS. The help line is 1-800-829-1040 and through a phone call the workers will be able to help us solve the problems.

When is the tax season over?

We have until April 18 to send our tax return to the IRS. This means that we will have 3 full months from when the tax season started. That is plenty of time to send our tax return and get the tax refund as soon as possible.

In this sense, doing our tax filing as soon as possible is key to get an early tax refund. The IRS will take about 21 days to give us an accurate response to our tax return after sending it through any of the available methods.
