The United States Social Security Disability benefit depends on several factors. If you have already started collecting an SSDI payment, you may not be able to increase the amount you get. This is because this benefit cannot be changed after it has been accepted.
However, if you have not yet applied for a disability benefit, you may be able to apply for a larger check. All this will depend on the moment before having a disability certificate.
In any case, each benefit is totally unique. And while the maximum Disability payment in 2024 is $3,822, that doesn’t mean that every American can reach that figure. So if your benefit of this type is in the process of being accepted, you may no longer be able to do anything to increase the payment.
How do I get my next Social Security disability payment?
The next of the Social Security Disability payments will arrive on March 13th. And this payment will come to all Americans who meet certain requirements regardless of the type of benefit they have. Likewise, the amount of the payment does not matter when it comes to getting this payment.
The important thing in these cases is to take into account two conditions:
- Have a disability or other benefit as of May 1997.
- You must have your birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
Thanks to these two requirements we will be part of group 2 of retirees. And that means nothing more than getting payment on the second Wednesday of each month. And in March we receive this payment on the 13th day of the month.
As far as the amount is concerned, it is true that each benefit is totally different. If we have a disability check that is too small, we will have to check if we have access to Supplemental Security Income. If so, we will get a payment of up to $941 each month.
Americans with a Disability benefit can go on to age retirement at age 67. The check we get will be the larger of the two, as it is not possible to collect two retirement payments at the same time. However, having a larger retirement check may cause us to lose Supplemental Security Income if we have previously received it.
