The July Supplemental Security Income payment arrives early to Supplemental Security Income recipients. This is due to a slight irregularity in the schedule. Therefore, any United States citizen who has a previously accepted Supplemental Security Income benefit may have the money earlier than usual.
This check is being mailed today, June 30th, 2023. The Social Security Administration has already cashed the checks for beneficiaries to receive their payment. So if you have the benefit, you will be able to enjoy your Supplemental Security Income today if you have Direct Deposit activated. If not, you may have to wait a few days to receive it.
Even so, if your benefit does not arrive in time, you will have to claim it. Doing this is very easy and there are two steps to follow. It is important not to skip any of these two steps, since in most cases the solution is found in the first one. For that reason, it is important to go one at a time, since sometimes to claim Social Security payments, such as SSI for example, we do not need to do the second step.
Steps to claiming Supplemental Security Income
The first thing we need to do is to make sure that we actually have the benefit accepted. This is not the first step, but a pre-claim job. If we are 100% sure that the Supplemental Security Income benefit has to arrive and we still do not have it, we should take the following steps.
- Step 1. Contact your bank. Depending on the bank, we will be able to phone, go to an office or do it online. Sometimes the bank can hold our money for various reasons. And that is why our money could be withheld. When this happens, the best thing to do is to contact the bank to ask about the situation.
- Step 2. Talk to the Social Security Administration. If our bank can’t help us find out what happened to our Supplemental Security Income check, then we should go to the Social Security Administration. We can call and ask directly. If we go to My Account we will also be able to check all the information related to our payment.
With these two steps our problem should be solved. The Social Security Administration may withhold payments for lack of information. Also, if our personal information is not spelled correctly, both the bank and the SSA may withhold Supplemental Security Income until we update our information.
