A specific group of United States citizens will be able to collect SSDI and SSI on the same day in September. This group of beneficiaries will have the opportunity to cash both checks on the same day in order to enjoy both benefits. This will mean that during the same day they will have extra money that usually does not arrive on the same day.
Still, it is good to keep in mind that both the SSDI and SSI payments are not an extra payment. These two benefits are those pertaining to the month of September and arrive on the same day due to some irregularities in the calendar. There is nothing to worry about if we are not within the group of these retirees, since we will receive our benefit in the same way.
In this regard, it is true that only one group will receive SSDI and SSI at the same time. That group must meet several requirements. To be exact, there are three fundamental requirements if they want to receive their benefits on the 1st of September. Can you cash the checks on the same day?
WHO WILL RECEIVE THE SSDI AND SSI ON THE 1ST OF SEPTEMBER?
In order to receive both the SSDI and SSI checks on September 1st, you must meet the following three requirements:
- Have Supplemental Security Income (SSI) previously accepted. If the check is in the process of being accepted we will not receive it in September.
- Have a disability benefit from Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) from before 1997. Americans with a benefit after this time will be paid on a different day.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a payment method. This is necessary to receive both the disability check and Supplemental Security Income on the same day of the month.
If we do not have Direct Deposit activated, it may take up to 3 days for the money to appear. This will be a little slower because the Administration sends out SSDI and SSI on Friday, so there is a weekend right after.
OTHER SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS IN SEPTEMBER
In addition to the checks on the 1st of September, the Administration will send out other payments during the month. In total, Social Security will pay up to 6 different checks between the days in September.
Each citizen will receive his or her payment depending on whether SSDI is before or after 1997. Also, citizens after 1997 will be able to collect their benefits on three different days.
These are the payment days for SSDI and other benefits:
- September 1st. Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income payments.
- September 13th. Payment for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- September 20th. Post-1997 SSDI retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month are paid on this day.
- September 27th. Beneficiaries with the benefit since after 1997 and birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
- September 29th. October Supplemental Security Income payment is paid early due to an irregularity in the calendar.
And with this calendar we can find out on what day we will receive SSDI and any other type of Social Security benefit during the month of September. Remember to activate Direct Deposit to cash your check on the same day it is mailed.
