Regardless of where we live in the United States, knowing the Social Security payment schedule is incredibly helpful for good financial organization at home. Not knowing the day the Social Security Administration will send us a check can turn our finances into a wreck, so it’s best to avoid this situation.
In order for retirees to have the best possible financial organization, the Social Security Administration shows the payment schedule well in advance. This way all retirees can know on which day they will receive each of their checks. Still, remember that not all retirees receive checks on the same day that Social Security mails them.
Pension payments are always made on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month. This does not mean that retirees receive the money then, but rather that the Social Security Administration sends the payment on those days. Only a qualifying group of pensioners can receive the money immediately. Do you receive your benefit check immediately?
How do you receive Social Security immediately?
The first thing to consider when determining when you will receive your Social Security check is your birthday. The Administration divides retirees into three different groups based on their birthday. Thus, we can find these groups:
- Group 1. Retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month. This group of pensioners receives their benefit on the second Wednesday of each month.
- Group 2. Pensioners with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month. Retirees in this group receive their check on the third Wednesday of the month.
- Group 3. Retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month. This group is entitled to the benefit on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Knowing this, we already know the day on which the Administration will send us our check. However, this does not imply that we will receive it immediately, so only one group of retirees can receive it. This group of retirees who receive their Social Security money automatically is the one that has Direct Deposit activated.
By means of this collection method, each and every check that the Administration sends us will arrive directly to our pocket. It is a very efficient method that does not require you to do anything else to receive the money automatically. The other option for collecting benefits is through a bank deposit, but this method can take up to 3 days, so it is much better to use Direct Deposit.
