United States Social Security retirement benefits arrive each month to different American households. If we have one of these retirement benefits accepted, we can be sure that we will get the money in our checking account without any problems, at least generally speaking.
Still, not all retirees get their Social Security check on the same day of the month. The Administration and the United States Government send these checks on up to 4 different days and getting it earlier or later depends on whether we meet certain requirements. Belonging to one group of retirees or another will determine whether we get the May 15th payment or not.
There are only two requirements we have to meet if we want to belong to the group of retirees who collect their benefit on May 15th. Retirees who do not meet these requirements will not be without their monthly check, but will get it on another day. One of the great advantages of collecting Social Security each month is that we can know in advance on what day we will get the money.
Who gets up to $4,873 in Social Security on May 15th?
In just a few hours, the Administration will pay out thousands of different checks for United States citizens who meet two requirements. The first of these requirements is related to the date of the beneficiary’s retirement. The other requirement is directly related to the retiree’s day of birth.
Thus, we have to take into account these two requirements to obtain the May 15th, 2024 Social Security check:
- Have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- You must have applied for a retirement benefit, regardless of the type of retirement, in May 1997 or in any month after that date.
Only by fulfilling both requirements can we have access to the May 15th benefit. If we do not meet them, we will have to take into account that our collection day will be totally different. Everything will depend directly on the above mentioned requirements.
Remember that without activating Direct Deposit, the payment of the benefit will not arrive immediately to the current account. The Administration will send the check on the 15th, yes, but getting it on the same day will depend on the collection method we have activated. If we do not have Direct Deposit, the Social Security will appear a few days later in our current account.
