The announcement of the schedule of Social Security disability benefit payments makes life much easier for beneficiaries in the United States. By knowing in advance on which day they will receive their new benefit, retirees can organize their finances more efficiently.
Throughout each month of the year, the Social Security Administration sends different checks to different groups of disability retirees. While some Americans think that retirees are divided into groups depending on the type of retirement, this is not the case.
Within retiree groups, the only thing that causes them to have a division in paydays has to do with retirement date or day of birth. That is, a disability retiree can collect his Social Security check on the same day as an age retiree.
Having the money in the same Social Security remittance will depend on their date of birth. This is the most relevant piece of information, as well as the day they retired. This is because retirees born before 1997 have a different payment day than other retirees.
When is the first Social Security disability payment in May 2023?
The first days that the Social Security Administration sends the first disability payment for the month of May will be in just 12 days. The Administration will pay the first check corresponding to the month of May.
If you already have an accepted benefit, either disability or age-related, you should receive your money on May 10. Otherwise, you may have to claim payment from the Social Security Administration or your own bank.
Who receives the last check in May?
Not all beneficiaries will receive this last Social Security disability check for the month of May. Two main requirements must be met in order to receive this check.
The first is that you must have applied for the benefit after 1997. This is because all beneficiaries who have applied for the benefit prior to that date always receive the first of the month’s disability payments.
In addition to having retirement since after 1997, the retiree must have his or her birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month. In this regard, the reason for retirement does not matter. Thus, both age and disability retirees are entitled to this benefit as long as they meet the two requirements mentioned above.
How can I receive my disability payment early?
To tell you the truth, there is no exact way to receive your disability payment early. What we can do is to receive it as soon as possible. In order to do this we need to activate Direct Deposit. Through this collection method we will be able to get any Social Security payment immediately. This is a great advantage, since it helps a lot in the planning of the economy at home.
If you don’t want to activate Direct Deposit, that’s okay. Instead of receiving the money immediately, we will have it in our bank account within a few days after the Social Security Administration sends it to us. The maximum waiting time is usually 3 days, but sometimes it can take longer and sometimes it can take less.
May disability benefit schedule
Payments for a payment month are split over a total of 5 different days, and receiving them on one day or another will depend on several personal factors.
The first of the checks this month is Supplemental Security Income. This check will be delivered the same day to all recipients of this benefit. On the other hand, the first payment of the disability pension will only apply to pensioners from before 1997 and will take place on 3 May.
Then beneficiaries with a Social Security benefit will receive a check on the 10th, 17th or 24th day. The exact pay day for each of these checks depends on each retiree’s birthday, so check the calendar carefully before applying for a late payment as you may be in the next group.
