Americans with a disability benefit may receive their Social Security check late. This is due to the way the government’s payment system is set up.
Even so, this does not mean that all retirees with a disability benefit will receive the money late. The Administration will send the money in a timely manner to beneficiaries in August, regardless of the type of benefit they have.
The potential problem comes on the day the Administration sends disability pensions to pre-1997 pensioners. Beneficiaries who applied for their benefit before this year usually receive payment on the 3rd of the month.
The disability benefit could take up to 3 days to arrive.
In months when that day is a weekend or holiday, there may be changes in the day the money is received. But in the month of August what we have is a different situation. This month’s disability benefit payment is on the 3rd of the month, yes, but that day is Thursday.
This means that Thursday is very close to the weekend and, therefore, it could interfere with the payments of some retirees. Beneficiaries who do not have Direct Deposit activated are the main losers.
When receiving the benefit money through the classic bank account deposit, the disability benefit could take up to 3 days to arrive. As the deposit day is Thursday, the payment could take up to 3 days to arrive.
