United States Social Security retirement checks depend on several factors. The amount, on the one hand, depends on the individual’s record. The day of receipt, on the other hand, depends on other elements such as the year of retirement and the day of birth. Controlling both aspects is really easy and we can do it in order to know on which day we will get our check and how much money we will receive in it.
Still, there is one key element that can determine whether we will get our monthly Social Security payment sooner or later. This key element is the collection method we choose. Depending on the collection method we have activated, we may get the payment at the same time the Administration sends the check or a few days later.
Therefore, the Social Security Administration will not be sending checks this coming week in February, but that does not mean that some retirement payments will reach beneficiaries in the next few days. It will all depend on which group of retirees we belong to and, of course, which collection method we have activated to get our benefit.
Which exclusive group will get Social Security next week?
Those Social Security beneficiaries who are part of retiree group 1 may get their money in the next week. The Administration sent checks to this group last February 2nd. Although this group is usually paid on the 3rd of each month, since February 3rd is a weekend, the payment was brought forward to the immediately preceding business day.
However, some beneficiaries in this group have already received their benefit, but those who meet the following requirements will get their payment in the next few days, if they do not already have the money available:
- Belong to Social Security Group 1. That is, you must have had your benefit accepted prior to 1997.
- Not have activated Direct Deposit as a collection method. Those who have activated Direct Deposit as a payment method got the money immediately on the 2nd day.
This is the only way we can get the payment in the next few days. However, this day’s check is not the last one the Administration will send in February. In addition to this payment, retirees in the other groups will get a new check throughout the month of February. In order to know the exact day of the payment, we must know the requirements of each group.
Other retirement payments in February 2024
The payment on February 2nd is not the only one that the Social Security Administration will send to retirees this month. In addition to that day, beneficiaries may get checks on the 14th, 21st and 28th, although each payday has its own requirements.
Payments of this monthly benefit can only arrive once a month, so if you are part of the group that collects on the 2nd day you will not be able to get the payment on one of the other days. In this sense, the only extra payment we would be able to collect would be the 1st of February, which belongs to the Supplemental Security Income.
Regardless of the day of collection, what is certain is that you will get a little extra money with respect to the last payment in 2023. Even so, it is certain that the amount will be the same as the January 2024 check, since the COLA began to take effect on Social Security payments the month before.
