The new Social Security payment for Disability beneficiaries will be arriving very soon. And to get this new check in the United States we need to belong to retiree group 3. This group is made up of beneficiaries of all types, including citizens retired by age.
But it is true that Disability retirees can also be within this group, so we should keep this in mind when organizing the economy of each American household. If we have a check from SSDI we could have it in the next few hours. Being part of retiree group 3 will be enough, whether we have SSDI or not.
How do I become a Group 3 Disability beneficiary?
In total, the Social Security Administration divides beneficiaries of Disability and other retirement checks into 4 different groups. Each of these groups gets their benefits on different days. And to be part of one group or the other we need to meet several requirements.
Group 3 retirees get their check on the third Wednesday of each month. In this case, the day will be May 15th and to get the payment we must:
- Have applied for Social Security, whether Disability or not, since after May 1997.
- Have your birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month.
Only in this case will we be able to access the disability payment on May 15th, 2024. If we do not have the payment on this day, it means that we are part of a different group. Either way, what is certain is that we will get our Social Security check each month, even if it is on a different day.
How do you get your Social Security checks sooner?
In order to receive your Social Security payment as soon as possible, it is advisable to activate Direct Deposit as a collection method. This collection method is immediate and we do not need to do anything else to get the check on the same day it is sent.
Those who do not have Direct Deposit activated will need to wait two or three days to get their disability or other type of retirement payment. Remember that the type of retirement does not matter in determining whether we will get the check sooner or later.
Similarly, it is also important to keep in mind that each check has a different amount. The maximum SSDI payment is $3,822, but that does not mean that all Social Security Disability retirees get that amount.
