For anyone in the United States with a Social Security benefit, payday is a very important day. Banks can receive checks directly from the Social Security Administration, so retirees can have the money in their account shortly after payday.
Still, it is good to know on what days the Social Security Administration sends these checks, as it is necessary for good organization in any household. If we take into account that there is only one retirement check per month, knowing when we receive it is essential. For that reason, we must have absolute control of the money we receive in our bank.
In addition, the Social Security Administration sends these checks on different days to groups of retirees. Next April 3rd is the day when the retirement or disability benefit reaches the beneficiaries. This is the first of the payments for the month of April, but there are other different payments.
Only one group of beneficiaries will receive this Social Security, so we have to meet a requirement to receive it. Even so, there is nothing to worry about, because if we do not receive it today, we will receive it in the following weeks.
Who gets the next benefit check from the banks?
The first of the groups to be paid each month is retirees with a pre-1997 benefit. This group always receives their check on the 3rd day of each month, with minor exceptions. For this reason, the banks will have the money available if not on that day on the following days. In order to have the money on the same day it is necessary to activate Direct Deposit.
On the other hand, if we do not have this option activated it is possible that the bank may take up to 3 days to receive the money. This does not always have to be the case, as sometimes we find that the Social Security is available on the same day.
Other Social Security payments in April
The April 3rd payment is not the only payment the Social Security Administration will send out in April. In addition to this payment, there are three other payments for American retirees. These are the payments for the month of April:
- April 12th. Payment for retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- April 19th. Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th receive their benefit on this day.
- April 26th. Retirees born between the 21st and 31st can receive their Social Security on this day.
And remember that it is not necessary to be born in the month of collection to receive that month’s check. In other words, you do not have to have your birthday in April in order to collect your April Social Security. The only thing that determines when you get your payment is your birthday.
After the 26th of April we will have to wait until the 1st of May to receive another Social Security check. However, this first check in May is actually Supplemental Security Income, so not all retired Americans will receive this payment.
How to get Social Security checks faster?
In order to get your Social Security benefit checks quickly and without waiting, it is mandatory to activate a particular cashing method. In this case we are talking about Direct Deposit.
If we have Direct Deposit activated, the money sent by the Social Security Administration will arrive immediately to our pocket. Without a doubt, this is a good way to get our benefit on the same day of payment.
If Direct Deposit is not activated, the other method of payment is by bank deposit. This method of payment is slower and it can take up to 3 days for the money to appear.
