Last Monday, January 30, at 11:30 a.m. (Spanish peninsular time) an unusual event took place. It started to rain money. Drivers on the A7 road in Marbella, Spain, began to see a large amount of 50-euro bills flying between the cars.
This unusual situation occurred at the height of a famous shopping center located on the road between Malaga and Cadiz. The police in Spain have commented that the event took place because two citizens of Arab nationality had an accident, which caused the money to fly all over the scene.
After the collision, the bag with cash that these two people were carrying blew up the rain of banknotes. Therefore, the end result was that many drivers stopped their car without thinking and started grabbing the 50 Euro bills.
How much money in euros flew away?
The total amount of dollars that flew out in the accident is totally unknown. Through social networks, many citizens have stated that they took up to 500 euros. This indicates that in the money bag there were a lot of bills.

The legal limit in Spain for carrying cash is 100,000 euros and 10,000 in case of entering or leaving the country. This rule is regulated by law 10/2010 of April 28. Knowing this, we can make a calculation of the maximum amount of money that these two Arab citizens were carrying in Spanish territory.
What did the drivers do when they saw the situation?
There are some videos of the moment that show the situation of the drivers. Many of them stopped the car and got out to start picking up money from the road. As can be seen in the video, none of them were wearing a safety vest, something mandatory in these cases.

Still, what we do know, safety vest or not, is that some of the drivers who were there were able to earn extra money that they were not planning to get that day. We do not know if they will have to pay it back in the end or not, but there may be a situation where the police in Spain will investigate them.
