In order to keep track of the days on which the Social Security Administration pays retirement checks in the United States, all we have to do is check its calendar. Social Security has just announced the days in January when it will send checks to retirees. Those days will follow the pattern that the SSA sets for pension payments. Knowing all this is a great advantage in order to have a good economic organization at home.
This way, if you meet a single requirement, the SSA will send you the check within only 10 days. To be more exact, the first of the 2023 SSA pension payments will be on the 11th day of January. This is the second Wednesday of the month and retirees born between the 1st and 10th will be able to enjoy the check on this day. This is good news for retirees who are waiting for their benefit.
On the other hand, any retiree not born on these days will have no problem collecting the check in consecutive weeks. Social Security payment days are the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month.
So if a retiree does not receive a check on one day, he or she will receive it on another. In addition, Social Security always sends the checks on time, so there will be no problems with late payments. The only thing to keep in mind is that depending on the method of payment, retirees may or may not receive their check immediately.
Social Security Payments in January 2023
Consecutively, on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month the Social Security Administration will send payments to retirees with a benefit. These checks will be sent on these three days to three different groups of retirees. Below you can find out which group you belong to.
- 2nd Wednesday of the month. 11th day of January. This is the next Social Security payment. Retirees born between the 1st and 10th of the month will be able to receive their check on this day.
- 3rd Wednesday of the month. 18th day of January. SSA sends the pension check to those born between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- 4th Wednesday of the month. 25th day of January. Last payment from Social Security in the first month of 2023. Retirees born between the 21st and 31st of the month will receive their check on this day.
Despite what many retirees think, it is not necessary to be born in January to receive the January check. Thus, the only data that matters is the exact day of birth. A retiree born in January can collect the benefit for May, September and October, for example.
