Thousands of United States citizens with a Social Security Disability benefit will be able to have two different checks from the Administration in their checking account on the first day of October. Best of all, the two checks are for two different benefits, so they will be for different amounts.
In order to get these two checks on the first day of the month we will need to fulfill some requirements. Just meeting them will be enough for the Social Security Administration to pay us these checks for Disability. However, it is also possible to get only one of these checks and collect a second check during the month.
Either way, if we have a retirement payment, we will get it in October without any problems. The difference is whether our check will arrive in the first week of the month or appear in the next few weeks of October. Check the payment schedule carefully so you have all the information.
Two Disability Checks in the first week of October
Getting one of the new Disability checks depends directly on the retiree group to which you belong. If we are part of retiree group 2, 3 or 4 we will not be able to get the payment for this specific day. However, if we are group 1 retirees we will be able to enjoy the next of the payments.
The payment days for Disability retirees in the first week of October and their requirements are:
- October 1st. Supplemental Security Income payment for the month. There are no requirements beyond having this benefit accepted.
- October 3rd. Disability payment check for the month for pre-May 1997 retirees.
If you are in one of these two groups, you will be able to enjoy these two checks without any problems. In addition, if you activate Direct Deposit, you will be able to receive the benefit immediately, since the money will appear in your checking account without delay.
After the payment on October 3rd we will have to wait until October 9th for the next payment. Likewise, the last two payments for retirees in October will be on the 16th and 23rd. Everything will depend on the group of retirees to which we belong. What is certain is that we will not get an extra SSI payment this month.
