In any part of the United States, it is customary for those 62 years of age or older to collect a Social Security check. Likewise, citizens with a disability may also get one of these monthly payments. But it is not always enough to have one of these benefits.
In addition to these payments, the Social Security Administration pays other different checks that can serve very well for Americans who need a little extra cash. However, it is necessary to meet requirements to get one of the additional payments.
If we meet the requirements, we can get one of these extra payments from Social Security. But it’s not just the SSA that pays Americans free money, there is another way to get a little money to buy food each month.
If we know about these benefits we can get some extra money, which will make our months better in this regard. At least we will have a little extra money for our regular expenses as well as groceries.
Payments that Supplement Social Security
There are many types of benefits that can supplement the monthly Social Security payment. Specifically we are talking about two different ones here. One of them will help us get up to $943 per month. The second of these payments gives a check for $291 for each family member.
These are the two benefits and the information about them:
- Supplemental Security Income: this monthly check can be up to $291 per month. Recipients of this benefit receive this payment on the 1st of each month. To qualify for this check we must be over 65 years of age or have a disability. Likewise, we must also have low monthly income, in addition to low resources.
- SNAP Food Stamps: Another benefit that can be combined with monthly Social Security. The checks for this benefit involve a payment of up to $291 per month for each family member. The day of collection of this benefit is different depending on the State in which we live. The benefit money is restricted to be used for the purchase of food at participating establishments.
If we meet all the requirements we can get all the payments at the same time. That is, we can get Social Security, SNAP Food Stamps and Supplemental Security Income payments each month. This does not mean that all Americans get this payment, but it does mean that it is possible to apply for them and enjoy them if we are eligible.
