Despite the fact that the United States Social Security payment schedule has a very established scheme, the truth is that sometimes we can find irregularities that change the system a lot. So much so that if we are attentive we can get up to three different checks in the same month. While it is true that this is advantageous, it is also true that we do not get extra money, but the same money as usual in advance.
Social Security payments arrive on different days to your beneficiaries depending on which group they belong to. Those are the retirement checks, but if we talk about the Supplemental Security Income payments we find that these payments do not arrive on different days, but rather all the checks are sent on the same day to all beneficiaries regardless of the group to which they belong.
Now, the payment of this benefit can be advanced on many occasions, which results in a retiree getting a new extra benefit in one month. Undoubtedly, being in this situation is very beneficial because it helps retirees to organize a month with a little more money. Even so, we must keep in mind that this advance money from Social Security will not come later again, so we must organize our economy well.
Requirements for getting three Social Security checks in the same month
In order to get three totally different and new checks from Social Security in the same month we have to take into account several different aspects. The first is that we have to have both Supplemental Security Income and Social Security accepted. It doesn’t matter if both checks are for retirement, disability or some other reason.
If we have these two checks, in some months we could have three different checks. When does this situation occur? It occurs when the 1st of the month is a holiday or a weekend. In that case, the Administration sends the Supplemental Security Income on the immediately preceding business day, so that there are three checks in that month: two Supplemental Security Income checks and one Social Security check.
This is the only way the Administration will send us these checks, but without activating Direct Deposit this makes no sense. If we do not activate this collection method, the money will not arrive on the same day it is sent, but a few days later. Therefore, without this cashing method the advantage will be lost and we will get the payment as usual.
What is the maximum check for Supplemental Security Income?
This extra payment that will arrive up to twice for some beneficiaries in some specific months can have a maximum check of $943. And if we get in the same month two payments of this benefit the money is doubled.
The amount of this check depends on the monthly income of the beneficiary. Therefore, the more regular income we have, the less money we will get from this benefit. At the end of the day, this check is really a supplement, so it should not be an American’s main income.
If we add the Social Security check to this payment we will probably get a good amount per month, although it all depends on many factors. As for the retirement payment, it arrives on one day or another depending on elements such as the year of retirement and the beneficiary’s birthday.
