The Social Security Administration always sends out Supplemental Security Income checks on the 1st of each month. However, in some months, beneficiaries in the United States do not receive this benefit due to an irregularity in the calendar. Because of this irregularity, we may not receive the Supplemental Security Income benefit for the entire month of July.
This would mean that we would not be able to receive a new Supplemental Security Income check until August. In the case of being a retiree with a Social Security benefit check and collecting SSI at the same time, in July we would only get one check instead of the usual two. Still, there is nothing to worry about, because at the end of the year the amount of money will always be the same.
In the case that the Administration does not send a check in one month of the year, it will always send it a few days earlier. In the case of the Supplemental Security Income for July we have this situation. While it is true that we will not receive a check in July, it is also true that we will receive it earlier. Specifically, on June 30th is when the Administration sent out the July SSI.
What day in August will I receive my Supplemental Security Income?
In the month of August there is no irregularity in the payments. This means that any citizen who has this benefit accepted will be able to receive payment on the 1st of that month. The Administration will send the check on that day, but receiving it will depend on the method of payment chosen by each citizen.
If our goal is to receive the August Supplemental Security Income as soon as possible, we should activate Direct Deposit. Otherwise, we will have to wait a few more days. Direct Deposit is the fastest method of all. The other method is by bank deposit, and it can take up to 3 days for the money to arrive.
Who can apply for Social Security SSI?
In order to apply for Supplemental Security Income from the Social Security Administration we must meet two main requirements. These requirements are mandatory. If we do not meet them we will not be able to apply for this extra monthly check. These are the two requirements:
- Be age 65 or older or have a disability.
- Be low income and have a low monthly income.
Either of the two requirements in the first section is valid. It does not matter if we apply for Supplemental Security Income because we are 65 years old or because we have a disability. In addition, low income is also a requirement. Each case is individual, so it is best to check with The Best Tool to see if we can apply for this benefit.
In addition to all this, it is also important to note that Supplemental Security Income is compatible with any Social Security benefit. As long as we meet the above requirements, we will be able to apply for SSI, whether we have another benefit or not.
