One of the benefits that reaches the pockets of United States citizens every month is Supplemental Security Income. This check from the Social Security Administration is not for all recipients. Only the neediest Americans can apply for Supplemental Security Income. This is because the ultimate goal of this benefit is for all citizens to be able to pay their bills without much hassle.
Since the ultimate goal is none other than that, it is normal for Americans with this check to want to know the day they receive it. Knowing the entire schedule is key to being able to organize the money in the household. Supplemental Security Income usually has a closed calendar, although sometimes there are certain irregularities that cause Social Security to send this payment on different days.
Still, there is nothing to worry about in May, as Supplemental Security Income will be in people’s pockets on the stipulated day. Well, at least the Social Security Administration will send it on the usual day. Whether or not you receive it on the same day will depend on the particular collection method you have activated. This is key to getting any of your Social Security payments without delay.
When does the next Supplemental Security Income arrive?
The check from the Social Security Administration pertaining to Supplemental Security Income will arrive in just a few hours. The date of receipt of this benefit will be May 1st, 2023. This is because there is no irregularity in the month’s schedule. When there is an irregularity, the payment is sent on a different day.
This change in the day of the Supplemental Security Income payment only occurs when the 1st of the month is a holiday or weekend. Since the Social Security Administration does not send checks on these days, payment is made on the immediately preceding business day. Sometimes that business day is the 31st of the previous month. Other times it is the 30th and it could even be the 29th. It all depends on the particular calendar.
Other Upcoming Social Security Payments
In addition to this Supplemental Security Income payment, the Social Security Administration will send other checks to retirees. The date of receipt of these benefits depends on a number of factors. However, any SSI payments are always sent on the same date for everyone. There are no clusters of SSI retirees; everyone receives payment on the same day.
Pre-1997 retirees
For pensioners who applied for Social Security benefits before 1997 there is a different pension payment day. This payment day is May 3rd. Usually, the 3rd of the month is the payment day for these pensioners, but this can vary somewhat.
When that day is a weekend or holiday, the day of payment may change, although this is not usual. So if your benefit is pre-1997 you will receive your check on this day, so you will soon receive your Supplemental Security Income and retirement payments.
Post-1997 Retirees
There are three different groups within this group of retirees. Regardless of whether we collect Supplemental Security Income, the retirement check for post-1997 pensioners will arrive on different Wednesdays of the month.
In this regard, the day of birth is critical in determining the day of receipt. While the other benefits do not take this detail into account, this information is important to receive the pension.
Thus, in this group of retirees we find three differentiations: retirees born between the 1st and 10th, between the 11th and 20th and between the 21st and 31st. Each of these groups receives their benefits on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays, consecutively.
