Millions of United States citizens will be able to enjoy a new Social Security check in just a few days. The Administration will send the new check to eligible retirees. And those retirees can be the 70 years old beneficiaries, although it is not mandatory to be in this group to get the benefit.
In the case of wanting to get the payment this coming day it is mandatory to meet two different requirements. And the type of retirement does not matter in order to determine whether we will have the payment in our pocket or not. The money will appear in the bank account of both retirees for age 70 and beneficiaries for disability, spouses or survivors.
The important thing to be able to determine if we will have this new check or not will be both the year of retirement and the day of birth. And as for the year of retirement, we are not referring to the age at which the beneficiary applied for Social Security, but the year in which they applied for it. So with these two pieces of information we will have enough information to be able to have the clearest idea as far as getting the next of the retirement payments is concerned.
Requirements for the next Social Security payment
These requirements are two, as usual for the second, third and fourth retirement payments of the month. Beneficiaries with a benefit after 1997 already have half of these requirements fulfilled. Social Security checks prior to that year are always cashed on the first payment day of the month, so that group should already have the money in the checking account.
If you have applied for the benefit after 1997, you must also meet an additional requirement. This other requirement is to have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month. It is as simple as that, but we do not have to be born in January to get the January check. It is important to understand that all retirees are paid every month of the year, regardless of the month of birth.
In short, if your benefit is after 1997 and your birthday is between the 1st and 10th of the month you can get your payment on the next day that Social Security sends it. This day will be January 10th. All other beneficiaries will have to wait a little longer to get the payment in their pockets, as there are two more check mailing days in January 2024.
When are the remaining retirement payments in January 2024?
In addition to this January 10th payment and the last Social Security payment on January 3rd of the same month the Administration will send out two more checks. These two checks will be on the 17th and 24th of the month. These payments are on the third and fourth Wednesday of the month, as is customary in these cases.
In order to get payment on each of these days pay attention to the requirements:
- January 17th. It is mandatory to have had your retirement check since after 1997 and, in addition, to have your birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- January 24th. In order to get this payment we need to have a benefit after 1997 and have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Also, activating the fastest collection method is essential if we want to have the Social Security check as soon as possible. To do so, we must have Direct Deposit activated. Only then will we be able to enjoy the benefit on the same day that the Administration sends it. Otherwise, it could take several days for the money to appear in our bank account.
