Stimulus checks is a help put in place to alleviate the financial situation of many Americans. It is implemented by the United States Government as part of the CARES Act in 2020. Its purpose was to financially support families and individuals affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the help has come down to the present day. For the first payment delivered in 2020 was $1,200. The second, which was part of the Attorney Relief Act of 2020, was $600. There was also a third, this one in 2021, issued under the American Bailout Plan. This check was for $1,400.
Each of the three rounds have been instrumental in sustaining the household economy of an entire country. Beyond the pandemic, this help has been maintained to cope with the different crises the country has suffered. For this reason, many citizens are wondering if there will be a fourth stimulus check in 2023.
The current economic challenges suggest that the government could consider this possibility. Re-approving a stimulus check to provide immediate relief to many families. But, what are the real possibilities that it will be implemented again?
Doubts about the fourth round of stimulus checks
Whether or not there will be a fourth round of stimulus checks remains unknown. The economic landscape is constantly changing and with it, the need for further help. On the one hand, the U.S. economy is showing steady signs of improvement. On the other hand, help for certain sectors of the population still seems evident. This means that opinion, even among legislators, is divided.
Given the signs of improvement that the economy is gradually showing, it is highly unlikely that another round of direct payments will be distributed. The trajectory of the financial system remains upward. This means less need for additional stimulus checks. However, some policymakers do advocate continuing these checks. They maintain that there is a segment of the population that still needs economic support.
Some states will have this help
Although the federal government has not yet taken a position on this issue, some states are taking independent action. In fact, there are areas of the United States where they have begun to distribute another round of stimulus checks to their citizens. A total of 9 states have advocated this solution. The objective is to help their residents in a more localized way.
Despite pressure from some legislators, the government’s position remains unchanged. For this reason, pro-stimulus check governors who have the authority to do so are handing out checks at the local level. Thus, there are citizens who are counting on this economic relief at the local level.
On the other hand, it seems that this policy is going to spread to other places. Several states are considering distributing checks on their own. No dates or amounts are yet known, but these states are on track to approve new help: California, Maine, Maine, Idaho, Idaho, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
