Before the end of December 2024, United States citizens who have a monthly SSI payment will be able to count on two different benefits in their current account. In addition, we should also note that one of these benefits will be even larger than the previous one.
Although the schedule of Social Security and SSI payments always has a schedule to follow, we sometimes encounter irregularities in the schedule. The Administration never sends out payments on holidays or weekends, so sometimes the day on which we get our monthly money can change a bit.
So, in this month of December 2024, those Americans who have SSI accepted and meet a requirement will be able to get two different payments before the end of the month. Just by checking the calendar we will be able to have all the information we need.
Social Security December SSI Payment Schedule
Although it is true that one of the payments that we are going to receive during the month of December does not belong to December, the truth is that we are going to get it early, so we will have an extra check in advance that will be perfect to make the last purchases of the year.
If we take this into account, we should look at the two payment days for SSI benefits in December:
- December SSI. It was sent on the 29th of November because the 1st of December was a weekend. As of today, all recipients should have this check in their checking account.
- SSI January 2025. This payment will be sent on the upcoming 31st day of December 2024. Since it is a 2025 payment, this check will also include the 2025 COLA, so it will not be a maximum payment of $963, but $967.
Remember that it is necessary to have Direct Deposit activated in order to get immediate receipt of SSI or other Social Security check payments. If we do not have this collection method, the payment will not arrive on the same day it is sent, but will take a few more days to appear in the checking account.
SSI Monthly Payment Requirements
Although many citizens think that they do not have access to the monthly SSI check, the truth is that many United States citizens are eligible to get it. Just meeting two requirements is enough to qualify.
Thus, the two requirements are:
- Be 65 years of age or older or have a disability.
- Have low resources and low monthly income.
In the case of being within these groups, we can have the monthly check of the SSI. Even so, it is advisable to apply for the benefit, since in many cases the applicant is 100% unaware that he/she has access to it.
