When the timing of Social Security payments is a bit irregular, we find that many people in the United States get their retirement checks a bit later. There are also beneficiaries who may get checks earlier.
Even so, beneficiaries who get checks later are in luck today, as they can collect the new benefit on the same day today if they have the faster collection method activated. However, not all Americans will get Social Security on today’s date.
Only a specific group of beneficiaries can enjoy this benefit. In order to get the check, two conditions must be met. If we fulfill these conditions the payment will reach our pocket and, therefore, we will be able to use the money on today’s date.
If the conditions are met and the fastest payment method is not activated, nothing will happen, as the payment will still arrive a few days later. WHICH AMERICANS COLLECT SOCIAL SECURITY TODAY?
Americans who are eligible for Social Security today must meet two requirements. These are essential and there is no way to be eligible for today without meeting both of them. So we must have a birthday on a particular days and, in addition, have applied for the Social Security benefit after a particular year.
To be more exact, the particular year we are talking about is 1997. If our check started reaching our pocket after that year we have already fulfilled half of the requirements. The other half of the requirements is to have a birthday between the 1ST and 10th of the month. This will cause us to be in this group and, therefore, the Administration will send us the benefit on the 24th of December.
Also, in order to get the payment today, it is mandatory to activate Direct Deposit. This method of payment is immediate, so we will not have to wait even one day to have the money available. If we do not activate this method of payment we will simply have to wait a few days and the Social Security will appear in our bank account.
Other SSA Payments before the end of December 2024
Before the end of January 2025 we may encounter one other payment from Social Security. But it is true that this payment is not exactly from Social Security as such, but from the SSI benefit, an extra check that is actually an advance payment on February 1st, 2025.
The payment will be sent in January 31st. This is the February 2025 Supplemental Security Income advance payment. This payment will carry the 2.5% COLA increase.
And after that payment we will have to wait until February to get a new check, so the 2025 January Social Security schedule will be complete on that date.
