The Social Security payment schedule in the United States is very easy to understand. For that reason, we can know well in advance on what day we will cash a pensioner’s check. Not only that, but we can also know when we will receive Supplemental Security Income.
Retirees with a benefit should know that there are up to 4 different Social Security payment days. Depending on the year of retirement and the day of birth, the check arrives in one week or another. These are the retirement payment days in August 2023:
- August 1st. Supplemental Security Income payment. This check has a maximum amount of $914 and is compatible with Social Security.
- August 3rd. Retirees with a pre-1997 benefit receive their payment on this day.
- August 9th. Two requirements are necessary to collect this Social Security. The first is to have a pensioner’s pension since after 1997. The second is to have your birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- August 16th. As in the previous day, it is necessary to have the benefit since after 1997. In addition to that, to cash this check it is necessary to have the birthday between the 11th and 20th.
- August 23rd. Last Social Security payment of the month. This check is for pensioners after 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
Keep in mind that the Social Security Administration sends out checks on these days. But this does not mean that all Americans with a benefit will receive a check on that exact day.
In order to receive payment on the day the Administration sends it, we must activate Direct Deposit. This method of payment is instantaneous, so we don’t have to wait to receive the money from Social Security.
