Citizens of the United States can always find out in advance the day on which the Social Security Administration sends new checks to pensioners. However, not all checks sent out by Social Security are for the same group of retirees nor do they all have the same requirements.
There are payments from SSA that are only for a specific group of people who meet an exact requirement. This time we are talking about one of those checks. Supplemental Security Income is a special payment made by the Social Security Administration every month, with few exceptions.
Supplemental Security Income recipients must follow strict requirements in order to receive this check every month. The maximum check is $914, but that does not mean that everyone receives this amount each month.
When is the next Social Security SSI payment?
In the month of March there are many different payments related to Social Security. The calendar is very full and there are even two Supplemental Security Income payments between the first and last day of March 2023. So in order to determine what the next SSI payment is just check the calendar.
The next of the SSI checks will be on the 31st of March. This is in advance of the April calendar payment. This is a totally regular situation and it is not every month that we find that there are two checks for the same benefit. Since this is an irregular situation, we cannot think that every month we will have up to two equal benefits.
Why are there two SSI checks in March 2023?
The reason we will receive two SSI checks in March 2023 is very simple. SSI payments are always sent on the 1st of each month. Since the Social Security Administration does not send checks on holidays and weekends, when the 1st of the month has one of these two conditions, the mailing date changes.
In these cases, we find that the SSA sends SSI checks on the immediately preceding business day. This means that it will send SSI on the 31st day of March 2023. Therefore, we will have two checks for this benefit during the same month, something totally out of the ordinary.
Other Social Security Payments in March
In addition to Supplemental Security Income payments, we will encounter more different payments in the month of March. Here is the schedule of payments for March 2023:
- March 1st. March Supplemental Security Income payment for the month of March.
- March 8th. The Social Security Administration pays retirees born between the 1st and 10th their pension.
- March 15th. Retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th receive their benefit payment.
- March 22nd. Pensioners born between the 21st and 31st may receive their Social Security benefit on this day.
- March 31st. Second payment of Supplemental Security Income in March, although it actually belongs to April 2023.
With this calendar in front of us we can organize everything related to household finances, as we can know on what day the SSA will send us our pension check, in addition to the SSI money.
How can I get my SSA payments faster?
When it comes to receiving Social Security payments we always have two options. Both options are equally valid, but one is faster than the other. In terms of effectiveness, there is no problem with either. However, it is true that the speed of one of them has a very big advantage. These are the two ways of collecting pensions:
- Bank account deposit. This method is reliable and does not usually give problems. We can have the money in the bank account within 3 days. Therefore, we have to wait sometimes a little bit to be able to use our Social Security.
- Direct Deposit. Any payments related to Social Security Administration will arrive instantly if we have Direct Deposit activated. It is a very fast and effective method of payment. Plus, we can use it just like a regular debit card, so we can pay our bills, get money out of the ATM machine and do all the other things.
Remember that it doesn’t matter which method you choose to receive the check. Only the time it takes for the Social Security money to arrive is what changes, so you can choose the method you prefer and stick with it.
Who can receive SSI?
Not all U.S. citizens can receive a Supplemental Security Income check. In order to receive one of these benefits, you must be over 65 or have a disability. If you meet one of these requirements, you meet 50% of the total eligibility requirements for SSI.
In addition to having a disability and being over 65, we must have low income and low resources. These two aspects may sound a bit ambiguous, but the Social Security Administration makes it very clear how to understand it through its official documentation.
There is a way to find out if we can apply for monthly Supplemental Security Income payments. Using the BEST Tool application, we can determine if we are in a position to apply for SSI checks. It takes just a few minutes to enter all of our information and receive a response regarding eligibility for this benefit.
Once we know if we can apply or not, we can start the procedure. We can do it online or by going to one of the local offices in case we have problems with My Social Security account. After that we just have to wait for the SSA to admit our request and we will start receiving monthly SSI payments.
