The United States COLA 2024 will not only affect Social Security benefits, but will also increase SNAP Food Stamps checks and other benefits. Mind you, the percentage will be the same for all beneficiaries. Although some United States citizens are disappointed with the size of the COLA, it will be enough to combat inflation.
With inflation at an all-time high, it is normal to think that we are looking at a sufficient COLA, but both SNAP and other benefit recipients think that the 2023 COLA was more accurate, at 8.7%. Even so, every year we will have a new COLA and we must keep in mind that the calculation of this COLA will depend on inflation in certain months of the year.
Besides that, there is no way to change the COLA once it has been announced. Therefore, SNAP Food Stamps payments will have an increase, yes, but according to what the United States Government has decided to increase. A silver lining in this regard is that by knowing what the COLA will be for next year in October we will be able to calculate ahead of time what our SNAP or Social Security benefit will be starting in January.
SNAP FOOD STAMPS MAXIMUM FOR FAMILY OF THREE
Families with three members will be able to count on a slightly higher benefit starting in January 2024. Remember that SNAP checks give a little extra money for each family member.
If we have a family of three, the Food Stamps check could be as much as $766 per month. This does not mean that we are obligated to get this amount. What it means is that at most we can get this check, but it can be much less. It will always depend on our individual situation.
As for the average benefit, the check could be $598. This figure is only an estimate, since until we are not in January 2024 we will not be able to know exactly what will be the payment of each of the citizens. What is certain is that all beneficiaries will get their SNAP Food Stamps as usual.
