The City of Evanston in Illinois provides citizens with a check from the Guaranteed Income Program. The way this program works is simple. They chose 150 people who are eligible for this program. They will get a $500 check for 12 months. Unlike other benefits, like SNAP, beneficiaries can use it and spend the money on whatever they need.
Cook county is also setting up a Guaranteed Income Pilot. In order to apply, beneficiaries will have to meet certain requirements to get a check. Participants must be at least 18 years old or older. Of course, they must live in Cook County. Their household income must also be lower than 250 percent of the US poverty line. Bear in mind that no member can receive money from the guaranteed income pilot.
Are there any UBI programs in Iowa?
There are three UBI programs available for those living in Polk, Dallas, or Warren counties. Once more, 500-dollar checks will go to beneficiaries through the UpLift program. The Central Iowa Basic Income Pilot offers a check for 24 months. During the two years, there will be no restrictions and no strings attached.
