If you receive a benefit from the United States Social Security, you could get a new check on May 3, 2025. Only if you are eligible on that specific day will you be able to get this check, having to wait until next month to receive the benefit. It is not possible to collect a new check in the next few days of April and receive the payment on May 3rd.
To fully understand how the Social Security payment schedule works, we have to look at the different groups that exist. In total, there are 4 different groups of retirees and all beneficiaries are part of one of them. Thus, we can see that group 1 receives the first payment of the month and the rest of the groups receive their benefits in the following weeks.
Therefore, the payment on March 3rd will be the first payment of the month and, taking the above information into account, we can see that group 1 will be the one to receive this monthly payment. And if a pensioner gets the payment on May 3rd it means that they are in group 1 and, therefore, it means that in the next few days of this month they will not be able to receive the benefit.
Who receives the Social Security payment on May 3rd?
As we have already mentioned, the payment on May 3rd is only for group 1 retirees. This group is made up of citizens who have been receiving benefits since before May 1997. If your check has these characteristics, then you will have to wait until May 3rd to receive it.
In this sense, the payment of this benefit in the month of April arrived on the 3rd, since it is the usual day for these payments. If you did not receive a payment before May 1997, the retirement check may arrive on any of the other payment days in May. But it is also true that before the end of April we could receive one of these payments without any problems.
How much money will I get from Social Security in May?
Retirees with an accepted Social Security benefit will be able to receive their retirement payment on May 3 if they are part of group 1. And by part of group 1 we can understand all retirees with checks prior to May 1997, regardless of the type of benefit. It doesn’t matter if it’s a check for disability, retirement due to age or any other reason.
Similarly, the amount does not influence the day on which we get each of the checks. If we have a maximum check that exceeds $5,000, we can receive payment on the same day as if we have a check for $3,500 or less. The requirements for the collection of each of the payments depend directly on which group we belong to.
